#amwriting a fair bit these days, but I’m not chasing word count at the moment. I’m culling more words than I’m writing.
There’s been a lot else going on too, with a friend’s 30th birthday in sci-fi / fantasy dress up…
And an all-day birth workshop. Educational. Pro-tip: Don’t go to one of these without coffee after a big night (spiced mead for a winter party is an exceptional pairing)
I now have a pretty good idea how to catch a baby, what is likely to “incur the wrath”, and how to zen out. We’ve got this baby thing in the bag… Riggghhhht.
The writing I have been doing has done my head in, as it’s another one of those impossible escape scenes. Writing them into a corner = fun. Extricating them not so much.
On ze tactics front, I’ve started writing in the mornings so that I can push through a late day of day job work without simultaneously worrying about my book deadline. Also trying to avoid one of the pitfalls of this blogging thing… namely getting addicted to social media. I’ll just check my stats. Twitter. Stats again. Ooo look at the time, and nothing is done. Eeeep.
Hokay, that’s enough from me.
Best regards,
D.R.Sylvester
I’m not too sure about the baby thing (without more info) but I will wish you the best of luck in it. 🙂
I have a terrible time getting sidetracked with obsessively checking facebook for friends’ updates. I got a 2-in-1 strictly to use as a word processor acknowledging I’d occasionally need to get on the internet for research. You might guess how long that lasted. :p
Thank you! We’re due in about two months, so it’s full steam ahead on the baby prep. I didn’t realise how helpful ikea instructions were until I put together the NON-ikea cot. It was all “Connect B4 to C9, then slide ratchet lever counterclockwise to rail bracket”. And I was “Whaaaaat?”
Yeah Facebook used to be deadly for me, so I went cold turkey for a bit. Now everything I’ve read about self publishing tells me I need to “get the message out” using social media of course, so I’m trying not to awaken my inner social-media-coke-fiend again
Good luck with the baby thing! I started trying to write in the morning, and got through a week or so of good productivity before I fell off the wagon, unfortunately. I’ll have to try to pick it up again. I also easily fall into the social media trap and the “Cycle of Checking.” Sometimes you just have to turn off the internet for a couple of hours, which sucks, but does turn into some solid chunks of productive time.
Thank you! And yeah, I may have fallen off the morning writing bandwagon a few times this week. I’ve got the social media thing under wraps now though, I think.
Maybe…
