Cover Art Uncovered

Hurrah! Hurray! Cover art for Last Resort is done! This was drawn and coloured by the uber talented comic book artist, Seijun, and is a dark, broody piece. I’m pretty stoked about it. Makes me want to finish editing and slap some bold font across it ready for publication.

In the meantime, here it is. BEHOLD!

I really think it suits the book, since it says “Wee bit dark, plenty of adventuring, frequent inebriation, may contain robotic parrots.”

Anyway, exciting stuff. Have you ever commisioned an artwork? Paid a professional artist and enjoyed the result? Would love to hear your own experiences. Hell, what’s the best book cover ever? I think my favourite would be an old Terry Pratchett cover, or a particular Hobbit cover with a sleeping Smaug.

Best regards,

Love the cover. Will look great with text. And I remember that Hobbit cover, but it’s not my fav. I love the cover to David Weber’s Shiva option: a disappointing last book of a brilliant series, but a great cover. Have you read it?

    • Haven’t read it, but did a google and that cover looks like a pretty epic space battle. Hate it when a series lets me down right at the end. Reminds me of the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie (though in Joe’s defence, it was me being too soft for the ending, rather than it letting me down. It made a sick kind of sense)

  2. I actually envisioned the female protagonist looking similar to this XD This is a really awesome cover! It fits the story, or at least the parts I’ve read. There are some really amazing artists on Deviant Art that take commissions. When it comes time for a cover I would probably start there 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here. Work was crazy >_> I’m enjoying it but there is a reason they call it work, lol. I take it you’re a dad now? Congrats 😀

    • Awesome! Thank you! Yeah as soon as I saw her I thought the artist had nailed it.

Devart is awesome for finding great art, I haven’t been on there for a while but it’s always worth a look.

And yes, I am a dad now! Thank you 🙂 I know what you mean about work, it’s been crazy at this end too. My blog posts keep drifting to the bottom of a long list of priorities. I’ve noticed a lot of us regulars have been doing similar… we need a shot of something. Or a defibrillator. CLEAR! *BZZZZT!*
